Guidelines
for Peregrine's 25th Anniversary
Issue
Peregrine
has provided a forum for national and international writers
since 1983, and is committed to finding exceptional work by
new as well as established writers. We seek work that is unpretentious
and memorable, and we are especially interested in work that
reflects diversity of voice. We accept only original and unpublished
poetry and short stories. No electronic submissions. No work
for or by children. Peregrine
is published by Amherst Writers & Artists Press, a nonprofit
organization staffed entirely by volunteers. Decisions are made
by the editors.
| PROSE: |
Short stories, typed and double-spaced,
3000 words max. (include word count
on first page); shorter stories have a better chance. |
| POETRY: |
We seek poems that inform and
surprise us. We appreciate fresh and specific imagery and
layered metaphors, but not excessive verbiage, abstractions
or clichés. Send 3 to 5 single-spaced one-page poems; each
poem limited to 60 lines & spaces. |
We
will consider only those manuscripts postmarked January 2 to March
31, 2008.
Include a cover letter with short bio (40
words max), mailing address, e-mail address, day and evening phone
numbers, and a #10 business-sized self-addressed, stamped envelope
(SASE) for our response to you. If you wish to have your manuscript
returned, include sufficient postage and packaging. Manuscripts
lacking sufficient postage and/or packaging,
will be recycled. Please do not affix metered-postage to your
SASE. The USPS will not honor time-specific metered-postage.
Familiarize yourself with Peregrine. Annual subscription: $15 (includes s&h; international rates differ,
